8 Austin restaurants cooking Thanksgiving feasts for dine-in and to-go
[ad_1]
Thanksgiving has a uniform. There’s a whole turkey, with a lot of math and weighing and salting and pouring over, cranberry sauce, green beans, potatoes and rolls. There is some kind of cake. There is a strangely reluctant competition: human versus record. The food can get louder than the mind. But as we change as a culture, away from folk tales about pioneers and the like, we have a unique opportunity to rethink the way we celebrate.
Whether your gratitude is best shown by returning to meals that remind you of Thanksgiving’s past, variations of dishes that inspire awe of other cultures, or mixes of traditions that create common ground with your neighbors in these Top Austin restaurants has something for you.
Take the preparations off your hand this Thanksgiving and turn to these facilities for a range of Thanksgiving meals to enjoy with dinner or at home. Then go ahead and devote an extra hour to nap after the feast.
The carillon
Sure, you could try gourmet cooking at home, but don’t remember to read the entire recipe before starting and end up with a half-cooked turkey, a burnt page you forgot, and the lingering resentment of several HE- B’s going to end up having to find fennel. Alternatively, take home fine dining from the Carillon for a surprisingly affordable price. The Thanksgiving Feast at Home Package ($ 160, feeds four) gives you the most traditional and complete meal you’ll see on this list, including smoked turkey breast, whipped potatoes, relish, dinner rolls, two pies, and more. If you can’t get enough of an item, you can add more items à la carte. Order by November 18 by phone (512-404-3655) or Google Forms.
Granduca Hotel
We are grateful for the brunch. Start Thanksgiving off with a brunch at Hotel Granduca, overlooking the hill country from the Tuscan ballroom and courtyard. The pork belly, candied yam, green beans and pastries are served buffet style with drinks so you can choose your own adventure. And by the promise of “a huge cheese station” we mean adventure. If this ballroom sounds good, but your kitchen table and the comfort of your own unbuttoned waistband sound better, the hotel offers a take-away dinner with appetizers, turkey roulade (a classic twist), stuffing, a green bean casserole, two cakes, and more. Thanksgiving Day Brunch ($ 79 for adults) runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Reservations can be made on opentable.com. To order a takeaway dinner ($ 199 for four, $ 399 for eight) by November 20, call 512-306-6500.
Terry Black’s barbecue
Hot Take: Turkey is the most persistent grill option. We’ll never turn our backs on marbled brisket, but everyone likes their red meat a little different. Smoked and slow cooked turkey is gentle enough to really center the grill flavors, never dry and light enough to play well with the rest of your big vacation dinner. What is Thanksgiving in Texas if not a chance to give grilled turkey the spotlight it deserves? One of Austin’s favorites, Terry Black’s Barbecue, has this covered with a selection of vacation packages ($ 78- $ 148). Choose a whole turkey breast or kick-start your vacation routine with a whole brisket or a whole beef or pork rib. All of these options come chilled with a frozen pumpkin pie and a bottle of original barbecue sauce. Order 48 hours in advance at terryblacksbbq.com.
Delivery to the farm
We understand your Thanksgiving is a pride that requires flexibility, but maybe not hours of kitchen work. To keep creative control in control, check out Farmhouse Delivery’s extensive list of curated local Thanksgiving purchases. All of the traditional must-haves are there (and bundled in an Everything But The Bird kit, if that’s your thing) alongside unexpected twists like ahi tuna sticks and sweet raisin pecan bread. If you want to mix in some of your signature sides that no one else could replicate, throw in some products and other groceries and save yourself a trip to a crowded grocery store. Order early on farmhousedelivery.com as some items are sold out.
Perry’s Steakhouse & Grill
Listen, you don’t have to stick to turkey on Thanksgiving. What would you be grateful for? Is it a ridiculous steak that you can only eat on special occasions? This is that opportunity, friend. Perry’s Steakhouse & Grille is ready to send you home with this traditional spread plus a three pound crusty prime rib if you think you can handle all of that. The turkey loyalists are happy. The steak lovers are happy. There are a lot of leftovers. When the steakhouse ambiance calls for you, they serve the same spread without the prime rib offering. Reserve ($ 45 per person) and pre-order (from $ 139) at least four hours in advance at perryssteakhouse.com.
Strawberries
Is there ever enough chorizo in a Thanksgiving filling? Probably not unless you make your own or get them from Fresa. They serve the classics with a twist, such as citrus serrano cranberry sauce and poblano spinach gratin. It’s just enough of a head start to make it a memorable stretch without sacrificing the combos you look forward to every year. The largest package can accommodate up to 10 people, but if you want more additional pans and desserts can be added a la carte. Order online (starting at $ 185 for four to six) by November 23 at fresaschicken.com.
Aba
This Mediterranean restaurant takes the giving part seriously and is adjusting donations made to the Central Texas Food Bank with Thanksgiving pre-orders. The menu borders on Thanksgiving classics and is ideal for enjoying autumn dishes in an unusual way. The pumpkin hummus takes care of the ingredient that many of us go numb to in cakes and lattes. Instead of turkey, enjoy beef fillet kebab and crispy chicken. We’re not going to disregard the black truffle orzo by comparing it to something else. Bundles are available for two, four, or six ($ 59.95 per person) and must be ordered by 9:00 a.m. on November 21 on exploretock.com.
Tiny cakes
When you buy cakes, you remember that your uncle loves pecans, you can’t remember if your cousin made apple or pumpkin, and you know that everyone but you likes chocolate cream. Tiny Pies has the answer – or a dozen answers. The Thanksgiving 12-Pack contains two each of Pumpkin, Apple, Pecan, Cherry, Apple-Cranberry and Texas Two-Step (Brownie and Pecan). Each little sweet is about the size of a cupcake, painfully sweet without filling anyone painfully. If savory pies are more your speed, the 5-inch turkey pot pies pack the whole meal into a few bites. Orders are open until November 19th at 5pm. Visit tinypies.com and check out the business specific menu.
