4 Hill Country spots named among Texas’ best small towns by T+L

Travel + Leisure magazine named four Hill Country communities one of the top eight small towns in Texas.
In a list published on July 28, magazine praised Bandera, Dripping Springs, Johnson City, and Wimberley, and offered vignettes for Hill Country cities.
Nickname “Cowboy Capital of the World” flag “Is the perfect place to learn how to be a cowboy,” thanks to the presence of multiple dude ranches and the area’s historic role in cattle drives. The magazine also mentions opportunities to explore the Hill Country State Natural Area, kayak the Medina River, visit the Frontier Times Museum, or hang out at 11th Street Cowboy Bar, “the biggest little bar in Texas.” Bandera is about 120 miles southwest of Austin.
Dripping featherssays the magazine, “is a Mecca for those who love liquor tasting as the city is full of distilleries.” Wineries are also widespread in the area. For nature lovers, Travel + Leisure recommends a visit to the Hamilton Pool Preserve. Those in search of indoor activities can partake in boutiques, restaurants, and live music events. Dripping Springs is about 25 miles southwest of Austin.

You can tour his youth home, visit the LBJ Ranch, or visit the LBJ State Park and Historic Site. Numerous wineries in the area present Texas Vino. Johnson City is about 80 kilometers west of Austin.
and Wimberley deserves praise as “a nature lover’s eden”. Highlights of this Eden include two popular swim houses, one in Jacob’s Well Natural Area and the other in Blue Hole Regional Park. The scenic Devil’s Backbone Highway, boutiques, art galleries, restaurants, and live music venues are also well worth a visit. Wimberley is about 37 miles southwest of Austin.
Four other small cities in Texas are praised in the T + L piece: Jefferson, Marfa, Port Aransas, and Round Top.
