University of North Georgia

Robert Thompson of Lakeland attended the University of North Georgia Freshman Orientation Group Week August 15-21.

Columbia College of Missouri

Kaneisha Mixon from Davenport, Austin Mapile from Kissimmee and Priscilla Johnson of Lakeland were added to the deans list of Columbia College of Missouri for the summer semester. Mixon and Mapile visited the Orlando campus. Johnson participated online.

Davenport High School

Gia Junqueira of Davenport was recently informed by the College Board that her sophomore PSAT score earned her the National Hispanic Recognition Award Honors. Junqueira, a junior, attends Davenport High School virtual classes as part of the FLVS Flex program. Recognition of your award is passed on to more than 1,500 colleges and universities in the United States. As a second year she received the National Merit Commended Status. Junqueira is one of five Student Ambassadors at Davenport High and is also a member of the Davenport High Broncos Varsity Cheer Squad. She is the daughter of Shari Junqueira from Davenport.

Western Governors University

The following Lakeland residents graduated from Western Governors University on August 21: Karla Akins, Master of Art Degree in English Language Learning; LaKeisha Leigh Da Silva, Master of Science in Management and Leadership; Rosa Maria Foster, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Tabitha Gadson, Master of Science in Leadership and Management; Charisse Jones, Bachelor of Arts in Education – Elementary Education; Nicole Kisch, Master of Business Administration in Health Management; Shyla McLane, Bachelor of Arts in Special Education; Duane Mitchell, Bachelor of Science in Nursing; Jennifer Sweet, Master of Business Administration degree.
