PFLUGERVILLE, TX – A 20-year-old man from Pflugerville with Down syndrome got the chance to walk the catwalk at New York Fashion Week.
Ronnie Brown, who owns his own business called “The Fry Guy”, walked the popular catwalk as part of the “Runway of Dreams Fashion Show”. The show was broadcast on Saturday and can be streamed on YouTube.
The show is produced by the non-profit organization of the same name, which is committed to a future of inclusion, acceptance and opportunities in the fashion industry for people with disabilities
Brown told KVUE that he put in a lot of work over the summer preparing for the catwalk. He did crossfit, ate a healthy diet, and even practiced modeling in the hallways of his house to prepare.
“I wore my hoodie and jacket. I’ve been posing, ”said Brown, who has Down syndrome.

“Your mission is to get people like Ronnie on camera. And he’s normal. Well, he’s extraordinary, but also very normal,” said Brown’s sister Latasha Rodgers.
Rodgers said her mother, who died three years ago, was a model in her teens. And although she may be physically gone, both siblings told the TV station that they can still see her presence.
“You know, every time something happens, we say, ‘This is mother work.’ Even his facial expressions or sometimes he just says something and that’s what she would say, “Rodgers said. “So I know she is here and moving with us and everything he does.”
Brown said he hopes to do more models in the future and also hopes to turn his “Fry Guy” business into a food truck.
