A peek inside three private jets that sail through Austin

As Austin reaches boomtown status, the capital city draws in droves, including tech executives, celebrities – and people who fly in on private jets.
Viral videos of dozens of private jets leaving Austin after the F1 weekend – an event attended by Megan Thee Stallion, Ben Stiller and Chris Bosh – may have made you dream of the jet setting lifestyle. Austonia spoke to three private air carriers that offer luxury flights to non-celebrities.
JSX

A Dallas-based hop-on jet service, JSX gives the average Joe a taste of the chic life with its semi-private service. While this service only operates domestic flights for now, JSX seeks to bring the joys of the private jet setting experience to the masses.
The special thing about JSX is the almost non-existent waiting time – with the JSX you can fly from Austin to Dallas in just one hour from arrival at the terminal to disembarking the jet. The secret is its simple security system, which is TSA approved and doesn’t require you to take off your shoes, throw away your liquids, or empty your pockets.
“It doesn’t sound like a believable thing – there’s this whole other world of the airport that none of us normally have access to,” Benjamin Kaufman, director of marketing communications at JSX, recently told Austonia.
No two travelers have to sit together on the plane and everyone enjoys business-class legroom. The plane makes it easy for you to travel with your lovable furry friends, each seat has ample power outlets to charge all of your devices, and offers free * fancy * snacks and drinks as soon as you reach 30,000 feet.
“It’s not a private jet, it’s semi-private flying for everyone,” said Kaufman. “It’s still accessible, it’s affordable. It basically brings the benefits that were once reserved for private jets and democratizes it so that more people can access it.”

Jeff Potter, the CEO of Manifesto, has traveled the world, but his trips to the underdog corners of the US have been his favorites in the past – Las Cruces and Mesilla, New Mexico; Spokane, Washington; and the Grand Canyon are some of his favorite places.
Manifest offers bespoke getaways to US destinations on private flights and last month opened three Texas offices in Austin, Houston and Dallas. Travel club members pay $ 2,500 in annual fees that give them three guests on each trip, access to any trips Manifest has curated, or the company will schedule one for you if you don’t see any that appeal to you. Potter said airfares were first class.
Potter, the former CEO of Frontier Airlines, was born in France but said he wanted to communicate that the best destination is not always the most obvious. He said he saw people get tired of the typical trip so he started taking them white water rafting, safaris, and unique experiences in their own back yard.
“You learn that five stars don’t necessarily mean unbelievable rooms in a hotel. It means authentic, it means rustic, it means realism, and I think that was missing in many ways, ”Potter said. “I always felt that what the consumer really wanted was being misinterpreted.”
Manifest fills “empty legs” or the repositioning of flights that would fly without passengers who would normally have been billed to the customer, driving prices down. Manifest has managed to cut ferry time down to less than half an hour, while most private flyers tend to travel two to three hours, which gives the customer cashback.
Where can you go Skiing in Telluride, a yoga retreat in Aspen, an arts and culture tour in Taos, a music tour in Nashville, and more. Often times there are other travelers with you and Potter said it was common to make friends.
Potter said while it’s still not particularly cheap, Manifest has cut costs by about 25% and is hoping to bring them down to 40%.
“Private aviation is a goal for 90-95% of the population and a reality for the other five, so we had to interfere because what I didn’t want was to start a company that focused solely on ultra high net worth . ” Individuals, “said Potter.” Part of our goal is not only to provide experiences to our members, (but) it is also to expand the audience. “
Airshare

So you live in Austin, have a morning business meeting in Dallas, afternoon golf in Denver and want to make it home for dinner? According to Chief Marketing Officer Andy Tretiak, this is not a problem for Airshare.
The Kansas City-based airline has some pretty high profile clients, including Kansas City Chiefs shareholder and quarterback Patrick Mahomes, a native Texan known for flying his mother to private games.
Airshare offers many services for all of your private aviation needs:
- Aircraft management, for those who already own an aircraft and need to maintain it.
- Partial membershipswhere individuals purchase 1/16 of one of the jets. With this membership you have access to the entire fleet for a monthly fee and an hourly rate.
- Embark jet cardswhich, according to Tretiak, are ideal for business travelers, give you a certain number of days that you can access the fleet for a monthly price.
- Charter services are also available to non-members, although flights are usually more expensive.
This is fully fledged private flying, so you get all the benefits that come with it – drastically reduced points of contact, no safety and the freedom to fly multiple times a day whenever and wherever you want.
“In some cases, you step directly on the plane, leave and the plane is yours. “They have the comfort aspect and the increased productivity. Of course, luxury is important, but for us it’s about maximizing productivity for our customers, be it in the business or leisure sector.”
Tretiak said that while demand for private aviation has increased in the US, Austin sees its fair share. Airshare expanded to Austin in 2013. Tretiak said he was surprised how many people just wanted to visit the city.
“From a business perspective, we see Austin as an emerging technology hub. What really attracted us is the next wave of corporate leaders and high net worth individuals,” said Tretiak. “To be honest, we have a lot of flights just for people who go on vacation to visit the city.”
