LOS ANGELES, CA, UNITED STATES, Oct. 13, 2021 /EINPresswire.com/ – Tesla Inc., the electric vehicle and energy storage company, is moving its Palo Alto headquarters to Austin, Texas, the company’s CEO Elon Musk said Thursday afternoon. The announcement came during an annual shareholders meeting held at one of Tesla’s Gigafactories, also in Austin, Texas. Musk gave vague explanations for the move, but cited high housing costs and long commutes for workers, as well as restrictions on growth from being in the Bay Area.
The renowned real estate agent Scott Aurich understands this decision and gives his perspective on this step. “Since I was born and raised in Texas and didn’t move to California until I was 30, I can understand why a company like Tesla should be relocated to a state that is ‘business-friendly’ and offers economic and regulatory benefits,” says Aurich.
But that doesn’t end Tesla’s story in California. Musk added that the company will increase production at its Fremont and Nevada factories by 50%. To underpin the benefits of the new location, Musk said the new headquarters will be five minutes from the airport and 15 minutes from downtown. And while the company continues to grow in California, Tesla will expand “even more” in Texas.
Aurich continues: “My heart will always be in Texas, but the lifestyle that living in Coronado, CA offers is well worth the additional ‘sunshine tax’! It has been a wonderful community raising my son and some of the relationships we have “that I have made here over the past 35 years are priceless.”
Musk has become a growing critic of the Golden State and Silicon Valley lately. In an interview during the Wall Street Journal’s annual CEO Council Summit, the Tesla CEO announced that he had left California because it had become “complacent” in its leading economic status. He also suggested that Silicon Valley had become increasingly irrelevant.
