Given the strange and scary times we live in, Austin’s most popular music festival for 2021 is taking exceptional health measures that require attendees to provide proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test result for entry.
On Thursday, August 19, the Austin City Limits Music Festival released information about its new health policy, which states that attendees for the two-week event must provide “a hard copy of a negative COVID-19 test result” within 72 years must be obtained for hours to attend the festival.
Alternatively, participants who have been fully vaccinated will need to provide evidence of full COVID-19 vaccination instead of submitting test results.
The ACL Fest, which is held for the 1st-3rd and 8.-10. October is scheduled to release information on its Fan Health Pledge, which will request ticket holders not to attend the event if any of the following apply:
-
Within 14 days of attending the festival, you test positive or have been exposed to someone who has tested positive for COVID-19.
-
Symptoms of COVID-19 appear within 48 hours before visiting the festival.
-
Within 14 days of attending the festival, travel to any international area that is subject to travel or quarantine notices by federal or competent state or local governments as due to COVID-19.
Additionally, the festival organizers have published the 2021 event registration procedures, which include:
-
Participants must adhere to the ACL Festival Fan Health Pledge.
-
Each day, participants must bring a hard copy of their COVID-19 negative test, a vaccination card, or a vaccination report.
-

In light of health concerns, Austin Kiddie Limits, the child-focused part of the festival, will be on hiatus this year, the organization said. Children up to 10 years of age have free entry when accompanied by an adult with a ticket, but children must also present a negative COVID-19 test result within 72 hours of the event or show a complete vaccination card if they are old enough to receive the vaccination have vaccination.
The ACL Fest is advising that masking recommendations information will be released closer to the festival dates, and the event will provide “more on-site hand sanitizing stations” and cleaning teams will often clean high-contact areas.
The news comes that Austin remains in Phase 5, the highest level of COVID-19 risk, grappling with the Delta Variation and hospital capacity control, situations that may worsen with the thousands of music fans flowing into the ACL Festival.
The festival itself has seen some excitement leading up to this year’s event, including the loss of headliner Stevie Nicks due to COVID-19 concerns and addressing demands from some in the community to hold the in-person event for the second time on a. cancel series.
