As the host of the annual tournament at the Rec Center Natatorium from November 17th to 19th, the Aggies finished second with 280.5 points after the University of Southern California with 327.5 points.
Although the Aggies finished second in the tournament, many swimmers showed their talent in the pool and finished with personal bests. Sophomore Olivia Theall clocked up an NCAA qualifying time in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1.58.23.
Theall also had a career best, earning an NCAA B average time in the 100-yard butterfly, finishing second with a time of 52.90, followed by freshman Sarah Holt who was fifth with a season best and NCAA B average time Took place of 53.49. Sophomore Chloe Stepanek achieved three NCAA B average times in the tournament with a personal best of 4: 43.40 in the 500-yard freestyle, 1: 45.16 in the 200-yard freestyle – her sixth time of the year – and 49 , 15 inches of 100 yard freestyle. “Our last 400-free season was really very solid,” coach Steve Bultman told 12thman.com. “That was a great swim for us where we are right now. Abby Grottle had a really good mile, best time and Olivia Theall swam really well. “
Bultman said he was proud of the team for the number of career bests in the tournament, but said there was still room for improvement for the entire team.
“We did a number of life bests, which is good,” Bultman told 12thman.com. “There are points where we definitely need to get better, but that’s why we’re doing this meeting. We learn that not only the coaches learn, but also the swimmers. There are things where everyone realizes that we have to do something better. “
The dive team also traveled to Austin for the Texas Diving Invitational, held November 18-20 at the Jamail Texas Swim Center.
