Gagnon is named Managing Director / Chief Information Officer of the City of Amarillo
Rich Gagnon has been named Managing Director / Chief Information Officer for the City of Amarillo. In his most recent position with the city, Gagnon was CIO and director of information technology, according to a press release.
“I was looking for a way to serve the community I call my home on a wider scale,” said Gagnon, who has been in town for five years, according to the statement. “It is an honor and a privilege for me to expand my role in the city as part of the city management team.”
The municipal departments under Gagnon’s oversight consist of information technology, emergency operations, the Amarillo public library and the development of new areas such as 311 and broadband.
“Rich has extensive experience in both the private and public sectors with the city of Amarillo,” said city manager Jared Miller. “His knowledge and expertise in relation to constantly changing technologies will be of great benefit to the community in his new role.”
As Global Vice President of Systems Engineering for F5 Networks, Gagnon led the global engineering team responsible for over $ 1 billion in annual sales. His experience also includes roles as Theater Vice President of the Americas for Palo Alto Networks and Director of Global Infrastructure for GameStop.
Gagnon holds a Bachelor of Business Management degree from Colorado Technical University and attended the Thayer Leadership Development Group at West Point.
Boys Ranch Director Appointed Area 16 Outstanding Director
BOYS RANCH – Shawn Read, Principal of Boys Ranch High School in the Boys Ranch Independent School District, has been selected to represent the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals as Region 16’s Outstanding Principal of the year, according to a press release.
The award stands for exemplary performance and outstanding leadership. As a Region 16 winner, Read is eligible to contend for the state title of Texas Principal of the Year. TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and deputy principals from the country’s 20 education service centers.
School administrators are nominated and selected by their classmates in their regions. Read, a 14-year-old principal, has led the Boys Ranch High School leadership team since 2017. He graduated from Dumas High School in 1984. He earned an associate degree from Clarendon College, a bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University, and a master’s degree from West Texas A&M University.
In addition, he is aiming for a doctorate in educational management at the WTAMU.
“I was proud to have been selected as a member of Cohort 1 by the WTAMU Department of Education. I applied to improve myself as a leader for BRHS students and teachers, ”said Read. “I had to somehow keep up with the efforts of everyone on campus.”
Read also served as a member of the TASSP Legislative Committee for one term. Read sees himself as a leader among learners and commends his staff and students for providing opportunities to improve Boys Ranch High School’s individual and campus outcomes in academic and social and emotional learning.
The region’s winners will be honored during Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner in conjunction with the Austin Summer Conference in June. Each school principal is awarded a prize and honored in a commemorative book entitled “Texas Principals, Texas Heroes”.
