Allegiant Airlines continues to expand its Austin travel options, adding non-stop routes from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport to two cities in Florida. The new Austin flights are among 22 new routes across the country that Allegiant is adding before the winter holiday season. Other cities included in the route expansion include Amarillo, Houston, Las Vegas and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. “A hallmark of Allegiant’s service is connecting travelers to warmer destinations where they can enjoy a variety of outdoor recreational activities,” said Drew Wells, senior vice president of revenue and network planning for Allegiant, in a written statement. “And we’ve continued that tradition with this expansion by offering our customers cheaper non-stop options to visit Florida and Texas during the fall and winter seasons.” The two new non-stops in Florida complement seven Austin routes that Allegiant im June announced. These flights, scheduled for November 18, are: Austin to Amarillo via Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport; Austin to Louisville, Kentucky via Louisville International Airport; Austin to Orange County, California via John Wayne Airport; Ausitn to Provo, Utah, via Provo Airport; Ausitn to Sioux Falls, South Dakota via Sioux Falls Regional Airport; Springfield, Missouri via Springfield-Branson National Airport; and Austin to Tulsa, Oklahoma via Tulsa International Airport. These routes will operate twice a week and are expected to bring thousands of travelers to the Austin metropolitan area. Las Vegas-based Allegiant, which focuses on low-cost flights and is the ninth largest commercial airline in the United States, has been operating at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport since 2013. The airline flies from the airport’s south terminal, which opened in 2017, is separate from the main Barbara Jordan terminal and is operated and operated by LoneStar Airport Holdings. Allegiant said in April that it plans to build an operations center at the South Terminal, resulting in a $ 75 million investment and the creation of 90 jobs. Other airlines have also added new non-stop routes to Austin, slated to begin this fall as travel picks up again after COVID-19 lockdowns. American Airlines added 10 domestic and 4 international flights to and from ABIA, including three daily flights to El Paso; twice daily service to Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Missouri, and St. Louis; and daily service to Jacksonville, Florida; Oklahoma City; Reno, Nevada; San Juan, Puerto Rico; and Tulsa, Okla. The airline’s new international flight options include non-stop connections to Cancun, Mexico; Liberia, Costa Rica; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Alaska Airlines also announced the first non-stop service from Austin to the heart of the Coachella Valley starting November 19, connecting Palm Springs, California with the Texas capital, available five times a week.
