Austin Bills? Texas city mentioned as ‘possible’ for team relocation

Hours after news of the Buffalo Bills and the ownership of the team, Terry and Kim Pegula, in search of taxpayers’ money to build a new stadium, another bomb was dropped. The first report, which indicated that the Bills wanted taxpayers to pay all of the cost of a new stadium, said the owners had advised local government that other cities would pay a lot of money to run an NFL Relocate team to them. Wickersham’s quote comes from the team’s first report, which wants the taxpayer’s full support for the construction of a new stadium. In that first report it was said that while the team had no real desire in their proposal to the local government to move the Bills, it did mention the idea that other places the Bills would like to have was mentioned. Obviously one of the places the Pegulas refer to is Austin, Texas. As mentioned in the ESPN report and Bills Wire mentioned in our earlier coverage of the stadium’s potential funding, the Pegulas seem to be building their case to get as much money as possible from New York State to help them build a new stadium . Reports over the past few weeks have shown that the team has decided to build a brand new stadium where the current one, the Highmark Stadium, stands. The lease for this venue with the team for use is currently bound until 2023. Erie County owns the Orchard Park venue. The negotiations for a new stadium have now certainly shifted into higher gear. At this point in time, a possible shift in the Bills seems very unlikely. These negotiations are very, very early. Bills Wire will continue to pursue the stadium theme as it unfolds. Look back for future updates.
