Austin FC goalkeeper hosts laundry day for local families

AUSTIN (KXAN) – Wash day came to Central Texas on Sunday with the help of Austin FC goalkeeper and fan favorite Brad Stuver.
Stuver partnered with a non-profit organization called Current Initiatives to host the Austin Laundry Project, which works with local laundromats to provide free laundry services to low-income families. Families who may be forced to choose between food on the table or clean clothes.

The Austin project took place at the Quik Wash laundromat on Parkfield Drive in north Austin.
Stuver and his wife have been involved in the project for some time, but especially thank the fans of Austin FC for the implementation.
“The support between the front office staff and the fans was great. We were able to raise the money we needed within a few days. The fans had handed in supplies of laundry before the game. We have way too much. We have way too much. We’re probably invited to another project. Hopefully we can change that pretty quickly, ”said Stuver.

According to the Laundry Project website, the event raised over $ 4,000 on Sunday – $ 2,000 more than its original target.
Stuver and Austin FC lost three games on Saturday night and beat Portland 3-1 at Q2 Stadium.
