It’s not Christmas time in Texas if you don’t have tamales for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and thanks to San Antonio, the Austinites have a gift to unwrap in time for the festivities. Delicious Tamales, a San Antonio favorite, is rolling out its masa to extend to I-35.
Yup, Austin is the first Delicious Tamales outpost outside of his Alamo City home.
According to the Delicious Tamales website, the location will be outside of San Antonio at 1931 E Oltorf Street in Austin. Austin Culture Map says the store will open in mid-November, just in time for the holidays. Like the shops in San Antonio, Austin sells hot or cold tamales in more than a dozen varieties.
The family company Tamales was founded in the 1980s. The company now has five locations in the Alamo City and has been part of memories for generations.
It wasn’t long ago San Antonio was excited to get an out-of-town tamales favorite from South Texas. When Delia’s from the Rio Grande Valley opened in July 2020, lines wrapped around the building.
