Austin Mexican Restaurant Curra’s Grill Opens in Hyde Park

Curra’s Grill, a Mexican restaurant in South Austin, opened a second location in Hyde Park at 4215 Duval Street on August 18.

The menu is similar to the original in Ost-Oltorf: a range of Mexican dishes, including cochinita pibil, chillies rellenos, moles, enchiladas, tacos and breakfast dishes such as huevos a la Mexicana and migas. The famous avocado margarita is also available, along with a range of cocktails, frozen drinks, beers, spirits and aguas frescas.

The brothers Jorge and Marco Garcia opened Curra’s in East Oltorf in 1995. They had operated expansions on Burnet Road and Parmer Lane, which closed in 2008. Daylon Garcia, Jorge’s son and managing partner of the restaurant, oversees the site in Hyde Park.

When they set out to open the restaurant last spring (which had been delayed until now), there were plans Run a golf cart delivery service that ships margaritas and take-away food.

The Duvall address was home to the longtime vegetarian restaurant Mother’s Cafe, which closed after 40 last October Years of service. Co-owners John Silberberg, Anne Daniels, and Cameron Alexander had run the restaurant with a limited take-away menu for most of the past year, but it wasn’t enough to keep business going.

Curras Hyde Park is open Monday through Saturday from 4pm to 10pm. Take-away orders can be placed online and there is an indoor dine-in service.
