‘Fall in Action’ challenge set
HealthCode and the Austin Parks and Recreation Department are calling on the Austinites to step forward and take action during the Fall into Action virtual activity challenge in September.
The goal of the virtual challenge is to get individuals to set sporting activity goals and develop new habits to support a healthy lifestyle. Participants can join as an individual or as an organization. Organizations can register at healthcode.org/organizations.
Participants can register on the Fall into Action registration page at healthcode.org/fallintoaction2021 and set a target for the number of activity kilometers to be achieved. Activity is logged on HealthCode’s fitness tracker and the program’s public leaderboard is updated with miles achieved, including running, walking, biking, swimming or yoga.
Entrants who travel at least one mile are eligible for more than $ 3,000 in prize draws, including a Naturepedic organic mattress. Since launching its first virtual activity challenge with Million Mile Month in 2014, HealthCode has developed a range of virtual activity and education programs to promote healthy living.
HealthCode offers year-round goal-oriented challenges with more than 50,000 participants and organizations in all 50 states and 30 other countries.

Philanthropist Dick Rathgeber has pledged $ 500,000 to Goodwill Central Texas as part of a co-scholarship program with the Salvation Army.
The scholarships are a cooperation between the two non-profit organizations and offer graduates of the Salvation Army’s adult rehabilitation center the opportunity to complete vocational training at the Goodwill Career & Technical Academy, a teaching facility with accelerated courses in high-demand industries.
Rehabilitation center graduates can apply for a GCTA scholarship and, if accepted, learn the skills they need to acquire an industry-recognized professional qualification. In addition, they can choose from a wide variety of fields, including health, engineering, and crafts.
