Here are the latest COVID-19 updates in central Texas for Friday July 23rd.

- Texas: More than 2.5 million cases have been reported in the state and more than 51,700 people have died in Texas, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
- Counties in Central Texas:
- Austin-Travis County: The 7-day moving average of new admissions is 35 and an average of 191 people are hospitalized. The seven-day moving average for new cases is 148. At least 86,826 cases have been reported and at least 894 people have died since the pandemic began.
- Hays County: There are currently 532 active cases and 15 people are currently being hospitalized. At least 19,742 confirmed cases have been reported and at least 265 people have died since the pandemic began. At least 18,945 people have recovered from the virus.
- Williamson County: There are 209 new cases and 14% of hospital beds are available. At least 41,305 cases have been reported in the county and at least 487 people have died since the pandemic began.

4:50 pm – The Community Coalition for Health (C2H) is organizing the Walk-in Citywide COVID-19 vaccination fair on Saturday, July 24, 2021, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The show will be held at 12224 Jourdan Crossing Blvd (ROCK Austin.)). The event is free and public. Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson & Johnson vaccines will be available to all adults and children 12 years and older. C2H has also partnered with El Buen Samaritano to offer a meal to every person after they get their COVID vaccination.
11:30 a.m. – Austin-Travis County is moving into phase 4 of its risk-based COVID-19 guidelines. The city passed level 4 of the level earlier this week. Under Level 4, Austin Public Health recommends everyone wear a mask, even if they are fully vaccinated.
Fully vaccinated individuals should wear a mask when attending private indoor gatherings, travel and dining, or shopping, and wear a mask for outdoor gatherings if they are not socially distant. Partially vaccinated or unvaccinated individuals should avoid private gatherings, travel, dining, and shopping unless strictly necessary, and wear a mask when performing essential activities.

9:30 am – The Biden government is donating $ 7,033,118 to assist rural health clinics (RHCs) in Texas with vaccination efforts. The funds will go to 142 RHCs who will use the resources to fight COVID-19 misinformation. Funding was provided through the American Rescue Plan and is administered by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) through the Rural Health Clinic Vaccine Confidence (RHCVC) program.
That HRSA grants RHCs based on the number of certified clinic sites they operate and provides approximately $ 49,500 per clinic site. That HRSA also awarded a $ 750,000 collaboration agreement to the National Organization of State Rural Health Offices to provide technical assistance to the RHCs participating in this program.
6 o’clock in the morning – A drive-through distribution of groceries is taking place on the Riverside Campus of Austin Community College. The campus is located at 1020 Grove Blvd. in southeast Austin, works with the Central Texas Food Bank and HEB.
People who are exposed to increased food insecurity due to the pandemic can get free groceries from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. During the same period, people aged 12 and over can receive a COVID-19 vaccine.
