Wanted feedback on the health plan

The Austin / Travis County Community Health Plan seeks community feedback through a virtual community discussion on Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm on Zoom or during a radio broadcast from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday on KAZI FM 88.7.

The Austin / Travis County Community Health Plan is a joint planning initiative run by organizations across the region. Feedback will help improve the health and wellbeing of Austin / Travis County residents.

SouthWest Water changes its name

SouthWest Water Co. announced that it will do business in Texas as Texas Water Utilities.

The company will continue to oversee the operation of the systems called Midway Water Utilities, Inc.; Monarch Utilities I LP, Hornsby Bend Utility Co., Windermere Utility Co., and Mid-Tex Utilities.

As of 1996, SouthWest Water Co. has serviced 133 water and 26 sewer systems in 36 Texas counties. Under Texas Water Utilities, which employs nearly 180 people in Texas, the company will continue to serve 43,000 water connections and 17,300 sewer connections.

Liver health seminar offered

Baylor Scott & White will host a Liver Health Seminar on Friday from 12pm to 1pm through Zoom.

Hepatologist Raja Dhanekula will give a talk on maintaining liver health. He will discuss signs and symptoms of medical conditions, including cancer, and lifestyle changes that one can follow to avoid disease.

Participants will receive instructions for participating in the virtual seminar in a print or email confirmation. When registering, Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock should be selected as the sponsorship location.

LOCKHART

State park is home to Turkey Trot

Lockhart State Park, 2012 State Park Road, will host its Turkey Trot on Saturday at 9 a.m. with options for 1 mile or 3 miles.

The event is open to runners and walkers, dogs are allowed on a leash. None of the courses are ADA-accessible; The 1-mile route is stroller-friendly. The first and second place winners will be awarded. A racing watch will be available for those who wish to see their finish times.

Registration is not required, but park entry fees apply.
