Austin’s COTA reveals thrilling attractions for amusement park in 2022

Austin’s COTAland amusement park is preparing to take visitors on an exciting ride – or two rides, to be precise.

The Circuit of the Americas announced on November 16 that COTAland, set to officially debut in 2022, will host two exciting rides: the SkyBlazer and the Palindrome. COTAland representatives say this is the only place people can take advantage of these two trips next year.

COTA has long been known for its racetrack, which hosts the US Formula 1 Grand Prix and other racing events, but also for a variety of entertainment options, including a go-kart track, zip line, and holiday and music experience. With the addition of COTAland, the property aims to take entertainment to the next level.

“COTA is working with the best creators and producers in the attraction industry to make COTAland a popular destination for amusement parks,” said Matt Hughey, senior manager of COTAland, in a press release. “COTAland offers everything from rides for small children to hair-raising experiences that will delight even the most seasoned amusement park enthusiasts. Something for everyone! “

The SkyBlazer seats 18 riders side by side on a circular platform before lifting them off the ground and then sending them hundreds of feet into the air.

“After a few moments of anticipation, the ripcord loosens and sends the guests into a temporary free fall before the rocking motion catches them and lets them float over the enthusiastic audience,” says the press release.

The palindrome roller coaster will feature a 95-foot vertical lift hill, a top speed of 51 mph, two inversions, and a vertical “jumping stall” before riders experience the ride again – in reverse.

Today the park features “kiddie” rides, including a ferris wheel and carousel, but the SkyBlazer and Palindrome will lift at least some of the experience into the adult category. Other trips planned for COTAland are the Skyflyer, Wacky Worm and Texas Wildcat.
