Something new is brewing for a pioneer of Austin’s beer scene and the city’s first craft brewery.
Celis Brewery – founded in 1992 in Austin by Belgian brewing expert Pierre Celis and best known for its legendary Witbier Celis White – is expanding its brewery area in North Austin at 10001 Metric Blvd. with a huge outdoor beer garden and taproom.
The new meeting place, named CTX Beer Garden at Celis Brewery, will open to the public on Saturday, October 23rd and will feature 12,000 square feet of outdoor seating, a stage for live music, food trucks and regular events programs including Austin FC Game viewing, family and dog friendly parties, beer tastings, and more.
“We are very excited to introduce the latest addition to our brewery. This new feature gives people more opportunities to explore the grounds and enjoy our beers with their family, friends and dogs, ”says Christine Celis, the daughter of Pierre Celis, who now runs the brewery with her daughter, the Daytona Camps brewer. directs.
“What I am most proud of is that the brewery pays homage to my father and the traditional Belgian brewing style, but our new beer garden for Celis is well on the way to the future,” adds Christine Celis. “We will always do our best to bring our fans delicious new beers and opportunities to connect with the community.”
In the new interior bar of the CTX Beer Garden, more than 20 locally brewed beers from Celis are presented on tap. Beer lovers can also enjoy limited-time seasonal beers and the new Celis CTX Mexican lager.
Anchoring the space in the kitchen arena are two food trucks, including locally owned Con Todo, a new taco truck from Chef Joseph Gomez and Chef John Gocong (of Osome and Salty Cargo), and Schaller’s Stube Sausage Truck, which are making a welcome return to Austin . Progress Coffee Co. will also be on hand to serve coffee beverages for customers more interested in caffeine than beer, and delicious pastries which, by the way, go perfectly with Celis beers.
The growth of Celis’s presence in North Austin seemed inevitable, and has likely been thriving, given the continued development of the area’s “brewing district”, which includes Austin Beerworks, 4th Tap Brewing, Circle Brewing Company and Hopsquad Brewing Co. nearby facilities such as the Domain and the Q2 Stadium are funded.
And given Celis Austin’s long history and thriving business in recent years, especially after the brewery reopened in 2017, the local beer community seems to be embracing the Celis expansion.
Because as Pierre Celis said: “Beer creates friendships”.
The CTX Beer Garden in the Celis Brewery will be celebrated on Saturday, October 23rd at 2 p.m. with a big opening party. The regular opening times of the beer garden are Wednesday and Thursday 3pm to 10pm and Friday to Sunday 12pm to 10pm.
