Baseball fans went mad after Austin Riley’s walk-off single to give the Atlanta Braves game 1 victory.
The NLCS officially began on Saturday night as the Atlanta Braves sought repayment against the Los Angeles Dodgers, who they defeated in seven games last year. For Atlanta, if there was a star for the game, it was definitely third baseman Austin Riley.
With the tied 2-2 game in the lower part of the ninth inning, Riley rose to the plate with Ozzie Albies on second base after a single and a stolen base. On Blake Treinen’s second throw on the at-bat, Riley sent the baseball into the gap in left field so Albies could run home and take the 3-2 win.
Baseball fans gave Riley his props on Twitter after completing it all at Truist Park on Saturday night.

Austin Riley is the NL MVP. I don’t care who wins. You can’t tell me anyone has been more valuable to a team than to the #Braves this year. #BattleATL

Austin Riley shines as the star of NLCS Game 1
After Eddie hit Rosario on a wild pitch from Corey Knebel in the lower part of the first inning, the Braves’ 1-0 lead turned into a 2-1 deficit. after an RBI single by Chris Taylor in the second and a solo home run by Will Smith in the fourth. That all changed in the lower quarter when Riley hit a home run in the left field stand to tie things up.
Then Riley cemented his status as the hero of Game 1 with his walk-off single in the ninth.
The Braves know the Dodgers well. They were one win away from reaching the World Series for the first time since 1999 last year, but their 3-1 NLCS lead vanished from Los Angeles. To make matters worse, the Dodgers won the commissioner’s trophy in six games. The Braves want that to be a thing of the past and end this series early.
Atlanta wants to take a 2-0 lead with a win in the series on Sunday evening.
