Boys and Girls Club opening in Austin

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago will be opening a new club at Austin College and Career Academy High School next month.
Made possible by a grant from the Nita M. Lowey Community Learning Centers of the 21st Century, the new facility will offer academic, character development and lifestyle programs to approximately 40 to 50 young people.
The new Austin club on N. Pine Ave. 231 is taking registration for the program to start in September when students go back to school.
In addition to Austin College and Career Academy High School, there are also clubs at Austin High School, Brunson Math and Science Specialty Elementary School, and the John Hay Community Academy.
The extracurricular program takes place over 30 to 40 weeks a year and focuses on academic enrichment, character development, prosocial behavior, mentoring, recreation, physical activity, and the arts.
“We are excited to have the opportunity to expand the reach of our programs and services,” said Mimi LeClair, President and CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Chicago, which has served more than 20,000 youth, ages 5 to 18, for more than 115 Years has helped years.
