Caribbean restaurant Canje opens its doors, plus more new businesses in Central Austin

1. Canje, a restaurant serving Caribbean cuisine, opened on October 5, 1914 at E. 6th St., Ste. C, Austin. It’s the latest culinary concept from the Emmer & Rye Hospitality Group, which also operates several other popular Austin restaurants, including Emmer & Rye, Henbit, Hestia, Kailmotxo, and TLV. 2. BlackDenim Records, a new indie record label, announced its launch from Austin on August 31st. The label is planning a citywide showcase next year, which will also serve as a competition to offer an Austinite a $ 100,000 record deal and a release deal. www.blackdenimrecords.com
3. True Rest Float Spa opened on July 15th at 2919 Menchaca Road, Ste. 105A, Austin. Tanner Heim, who co-owns the spa with Liz Wolf, said people can experience “the absence of it all” while floating in water and Epsom salts.
