Austin City Offices, Facilities Closing for Thanksgiving 2021
The city of Austin administrative offices and other city facilities are open Thursday and Friday, April 25-26. November, closed for Thanksgiving.
Waste and recycling plans
All garbage, recycling and compost collections will be “pushed forward” one day on Thanksgiving. You are affected if your regular pickup day is Thursday or Friday. Check your personalized roadside services calendar and set up reminders for all of your collections in the Austin Recycles mobile app or online. The recycling and reuse drop-off center will be closed on Thursday, November 25th, but will only be open by appointment on Friday and Saturday.
Austin Public Health COVID-19 Test and Vaccine Site Schedule and Dashboard
All Austin Public Health COVID-19 testing and vaccine sites will be closed from Wednesday November 25th through Sunday November 28th.
The COVID-19 monitoring dashboard will be available on Thursday or Friday, April 25-26. November not updated, but on Monday, November 29th. To schedule a COVID-19 test or vaccine through Austin Public Health, visit austintexas.gov/ Covid19.
Schedules for parks and recreational facilities
Austin Parks and Recreation vacation times vary by facility, so please call ahead or check AustinTexas.gov/Parks before you go. Most facilities, including museums and cultural centers, recreation centers, and senior centers, will close at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24th and will remain closed through Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Tennis centers are only closed on Thanksgiving. All water facilities are closed on Thanksgiving, with the exception of Barton Springs Pool, which operates unguarded. For pool hours over the holiday weekend, visit AustinTexas.gov/Pools.
Golf courses open at 12:00 PM on Thanksgiving Day with final reservations and carts, driving ranges close at 1:30 PM, and pro shops and concessions close at 4:30 PM. For more information on Austin parks and recreation closings, visit AustinTexas .gov / ParkClosures.
Austin Public Library Schedule
All Austin Public Library locations will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th. You can access remotely available library resources from the Austin Public Library website: library.austintexas.gov.
Austin Animal Center Schedule
The Austin Animal Center closes at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, November 24th, remains closed for Thanksgiving Day and Friday, November 26th. The center is open during its regular opening hours on Saturday, November 27th and Sunday, November 28th.
City of Austin Utilities Schedule
The City of Austin Utilities customer service call center will be closed Thursday, November 25th through Saturday, November 27th. In addition, all City of Austin Utility customer service centers will be closed on Thursday, November 25th and Friday, November 26th. Customers can make utility payments for a quick payment at coautilities.com or by calling 1-833-375-4919.

Additional payment options are:
- Pay at authorized locations including most Austin HEB, Fiesta Mart, Randall’s, and Walmart stores
- Send postal order or check to PO BOX 2267, Austin, TX 78783-2267, or use a PO Box location
- Payment boxes are located in the North and South Utility Customer Service Centers, 625 East 10th Street and 505 Barton Springs Rd. Allow 3-5 business days for drop-off payments to be processed. The payment box in the East Branch in Rosewood-Zaragosa is currently NOT available.
