FATE, TX (September 19, 2021) Finalists for the 2021 President’s Awards program were recently announced in Austin. For over 30 years, the Texas Downtown Association (TDA) sponsored awards program has honored outstanding projects, places, and people in downtown Texas.

Fate’s commitment to economic revitalization was gradually realized through the establishment of the mixed-use project The Villages at Fate, the anchor project for Fate’s dynamic downtown vision. Due to the success of this project, the City of Fate was selected as a finalist in the Design category for the best commercial interior design and the best new construction, and as a finalist in the Achievement category for the best economic game changer.

TDA was founded in 1985 to connect and support communities that are committed to inner city vitality. The organization is an independent, statewide, not-for-profit organization representing cities and towns of all sizes, business development agencies, chambers of commerce, local associations, small businesses, and individuals.

“This building is the beginning of what we hope for: a strong destiny with a living core that is financially productive and of which our citizens can be proud,” said City Director Michael Kovacs.

One hundred and seven entries were submitted in eleven different categories from communities across the state. Design and performance categories were assessed by separate juries.

The judges for the design entries were: Kennedy Colombo, Jackson Galloway FGM Architects; Karen Dickson, Lower Colorado River Authority; Tim Hair, Dunaway employee; and Martin Sanchez, The Sanchez Group

The judges for the contributions were: Kathleen Frankford, Texas Association of Convention and Visitor Bureaus; Marc Maxwell, City of Sulfur Springs; Gregory Pogue, IC2 Institute, University of Texas-Austin; and Ryan Short, citizen brand.

The winners will be announced on November 4th at the President’s Awards Gala, which will be held in Denton in conjunction with the Texas Downtown Conference 2021 from November 3rd to 5th.
