The Gilleland Creek Pool Bathhouse Project has allocated US $ 1.2 million to demolish and replace the facility’s structures. In April the council decided unanimously not to proceed with the project, but after considering an alternative reallocation for these bond funds, the council voted to demolish and rebuild the bathhouse and lifeguard station on Tuesday June 8th Gilleland Creek Pool. The city council decided to remove and replace the buildings by the pool due to their location in the floodplain.
Youth recreation grants are available for leisure programs and swimming lessons. The project is funded through the Community Development Block Grant program. Space is limited. Information on eligibility and applications are available online at pflugervilletx.gov/cdbg.

The city of Pflugerville has partnered with Travis County, Bastrop County and the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) to conduct a flood control planning study to model and map the floodplain for Wilbarger Creek.
The study includes the mapping of floodplains, the determination of the flood risk and an assessment of the flood protection, which leads to a final report. Check out our last public session on our project website to find out more about this project and its impact on you.
The Pflugerville Police Department’s Cool Moves program returns this summer to reward children for their safety. Until August 31, the Pflugerville police will keep an eye out for children showing “cool moves”. These include looking both ways before crossing the street, wearing a helmet when cycling or skateboarding, using hand signals when cycling, and using zebra crossings.
Children who witness this safe behavior receive a Cool Moves ticket from a police officer. These tickets reward them with a free treat from participating partners including Dairy Queen, Andy’s Frozen Custard and Blue Bell Ice Cream.
While these interactions are fun, they are also important safety lessons. Every summer, Pflugerville officials hand out hundreds of tickets to safety-conscious children. More information is available at pflugervilletx.gov/coolmoves.
