– Daou Family Estates announced four new appointments to key senior management positions on the national sales team. The family-run Daou Family Estates produces award-winning Cabernet Sauvignon and other quality Paso Robles wines. The new team memberships “embody Georges and Daniel Daou’s ‘people-first’ approach to hospitality and business.”

  • Aaron Amsler, Vice President, Central Region, brings 27 years of experience to DAOU Family Estates, most recently as Senior Director at Rodney Strong Vineyards.
  • Michelle Smith, vice president of retail chains, a seasoned sales director in the industry, joined DAOU in 2016 and was promoted from the central division manager.
  • Walter Sorensen, Vice President, Western Region, joined DAOU Family Estates in 2020 and was previously Area Manager in California and Hawaii.
  • Tony Suarez, Vice President, Eastern Region, has been promoted from his previous position as Director of Global Accounts for DAOU.

Aaron Amsler, Vice President, Central Region

Amsler began his 27 year career in wine sales and management as the retail district manager for Block Distributing in Austin, TX, followed by supplier positions at WJ Deutsch & Sons and Foster’s Wine Estates. Most recently, Amsler was Senior Sales Director Central US at Rodney Strong Vineyards for ten years. A champion for dynamic brand growth and excellence, Amsler joins Daou Family Estates as Vice President, Central Region.

Michelle Smith, vice president, retail chains

Smith joined Daou in August 2016 as the Central Division Manager. As a seasoned sales manager in the industry, Smith has an extensive track record in all industry channels, both on-site and off-site, as well as in regional and national chain management. Smith has worked tirelessly to build a formidable retail presence, build a world-class retail team, promote new lines of communication with leading national customers, and expand large chain sales points. Smith’s vision, leadership and passion in her new role will inspire the entire team, deepen relationships at Daou and advance her branding mission.

Walter Sorensen, Vice President, Region West

Sorensen began his career in the wine industry in 2001 after completing a degree in viticulture and viticulture from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Starting out as a retail chain merchandiser for the Wine Group in Los Angeles, Sorensen has held multiple chain and market positions for Jackson Family Estates and Rodney Strong Vineyards. In 2020, Sorensen joined Daou Family Estates as Area Manager for California and Hawaii. In his new role as Vice President, Western Region, Sorensen will continue to build meaningful relationships for Daou Family Estates with a team of division and field service managers.

Tony Suarez, Vice President, East Region

Suarez joined DAOU a little over a year ago as Director of Global Accounts, responsible for Latin America and the Caribbean. With over 20 years of sales and marketing experience in the wine, spirits and beer industries, Suarez offers a global perspective, high-level sales leadership and a passion for people development. In his new role, Suarez will work with division managers and their teams from the Great Lakes, Mid-Atlantic, New England, Northeast and Southeast Divisions to develop strategies to increase sales, attract new customers and develop relationships with existing customers.
