The Internet of Military Things Edge platform is a converged infrastructure solution consisting of EDJX EdjOS with edge computing and network hardware from Cubic Corporation. Blueforce Development, a leading innovator in the fields of sensor fusion, sensor cueing and software for artificial and predictive intelligence at the edge, becomes the first certified application developer on the IoMT platform. The Internet of Military Things Edge platform, which has a significant impact on IoT and advanced AI solutions at the very edge of the network, is the first major solution to be built on the Autonomy Institute’s GRID, which is the Public Infrastructure Network Node ( PINN) announced earlier this year. The Autonomy Institute is the conduit for these technologies to connect in a transformative end-to-end IoT solution from the ground up to the battlefield, solving immediate challenges for military and civil first responders.
The IoMT platform will launch in the Alpha Lab of the Autonomy Institute at Camp Mabry of the Texas Military Department (TMD) in Austin, TX, simultaneously with the provision of the PINN infrastructure. PINN is the first unified open standard that supports 5G wireless, edge computing, radar, lidar, improved GPS and intelligent transport systems (ITS) and solves current infrastructure challenges.
The Autonomy Institute’s Alpha Lab at Camp Mabry will be available for developers to develop, test, and deploy next-generation IoT solutions that provide the blueprint for public safety, military, and civil use cases. The Alpha Lab is part of the operationalization of the PINN, which will have a significant impact on public safety and civil protection. PINNs will enable first responders to accelerate emergency and disaster response with smart infrastructure and facilitate humanitarian assistance in disaster relief and domestic operations.
The IoMT Edge platform is part of the broader future of AI at the edge and IoT history as a key piece of evidence in an emerging market. IoT and 5G mark AI on the edge, the processing of AI algorithms on the edge, on users’ devices. Internet of Military ThingsTM is a new application of this technology that is transforming military security and connectivity.
“We are excited to support the launch of the Autonomy Institute’s Alpha Lab. Camp Mabry and the Texas National Guard have become a focus for research and innovation. We are constantly striving to take advantage of and accelerate the introduction of new commercial technologies and novel architectures. ”Deployments like the PINNs. This lab will help bring the concept of the Internet of Military Things to life by acting as an enabler for our systems to connect, share data and learn. As a nation we have to move faster if we want to meet the challenges of tomorrow, “said Lt. Col. Alex Goldberg, Engagement Lead Region Southwest for the Defense Innovation Department.
“The EDJX platform is a quantum leap in edge computing as it enables our intelligent IoT and C2 application products to scale from the ground up to the battlefield, reducing the cognitive lift while reducing the pace of operations for both our military and ours Increase first responders. ” called Michael Helfrich, Founder and CEO of Blueforce Development. “Military and first responders need actionable information to make superior decisions where access to data and the accuracy of information are critical to decision making in time-limited decision-making environments.”
Service members and first responders make quick decisions about the success of the mission and the safety of others who depend on those decisions. These individuals work under intermittent connectivity, heavily loaded and complex equipment, and with limited time to assess an environment before acting. The proliferation of sensors, nameless vehicles, command posts and mobile ground troops has led to an increasingly complex and sophisticated combat space. Edge computing enables data processing at the tactical edge by decentralizing decision changes, bringing the power of data into the field and providing better information for military and civil first responders.
“Our innovative computing and network platforms have enabled Allied forces around the world to benefit from the emerging Internet of Military Things in recent years. Our partnership with EDJX and Blueforce Development will significantly accelerate the spread of intelligent and autonomous solutions, ”said Mike Barthlow, SVP & GM, Cubic Mission Communications and Computing. “We are excited to be working with EDJX, Blueforce and the Autonomy Institute Alpha Lab at Camp Mabry to expand our vision for security for those on the tactical edge.”
The tactical advantage includes the platforms, locations, and personnel (U.S. military, allies, coalition partners, first responders) operating in a battlefield or crisis environment with deadly risk characterized by a reliance on information systems and connectivity for survival and mission success is. Users are fully engaged, heavily stressed, and dependent on the availability, integrity, and transparency of their information systems.
“The introduction of the IoMT Edge platform in cooperation with Cubic heralds the era of Industry 4.0 by bringing with us all the important ingredients that are missing in the development of mobile, intelligent and autonomous systems, “said John Cowan, EDJX co-founder and CEO. “Innovation will be at the heart of this project and we look forward to working with leading innovators like Blueforce and the Autonomy Institute to shape the future.”
