The company used a separate entity, Gapped Bass LLC, to purchase 73 acres of northwest Bastrop in May.

BASTROP, Texas – Elon Musk’s The Boring Company is buying additional land in the Austin area for tunneling.

According to a report in the Austin Business Journal, Gapped Bass LLC bought 73 acres in northwest Bastrop in May. The company is associated with top executives from The Boring Company and the address listed in several state records for its Pflugerville warehouse.

The Boring Company is Musk’s tunneling company that “creates safe, quick-to-dig, and affordable transportation, utility and cargo tunnels,” according to the company’s website.

The 73 acre Bastrop property is located near State Highway 71 and Farm Road 1209.

The company announced last month that it was hiring 20 positions in the Austin area, including a finance director and field technician for a Bastrop location. According to the Austin Business Journal, this was the first time the company publicly recognized that it has a location in the Austin area.

Some of these job descriptions outlined plans to build an autonomous tunnel boring machine.

In December 2020, The Boring Company applied for the renovation and remodeling of a building in Pflugerville. The land in this filing to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation is 40,000 square feet at 15709 Impact Way, the same address listed in the Bastrop purchase from Gapped Bass LLC.

Musk is already present in central Texas. Tesla is building a “Gigafactory” in Austin. Musk’s Neuralink company posted five vacancies in Austin in April. The world’s second richest man also lives in a tiny $ 50,000 house near the SpaceX development in Boca Chica, Texas.
