FRISCO, Texas (AP) – Jesús Ferreira scored his eighth goal of the season in his career, Franco Jara also scored and FC Dallas defeated Austin FC 2-1 on Saturday evening.
Jara was substituted on in the 80th minute and scored seconds later as he parried a volley from a ball-in diverted from Austin’s Alexander Ring to give Dallas (7-15-11) a 2-1 lead.
Diego Fagundez twisted a ball from the corner of the box into the far post to give Austin a 1-0 lead in the 36th minute. The 20-year-old Ferreira, who has the best eight assists of his career this season – his sixth in the MLS – tipped a low cross from Jáder Obrian in the 38.
Austin (8-20-4) played a man down after Hector Jimenez was shown the red card in the 58th minute for denying an obvious scoring opportunity.
