A native of Little Rock and a former presidential candidate, General Wesley Clark is the founder of Renew America Together, a nonprofit dedicated to bridging political divisions.

Renew America Together announced its first class for its Civility Leadership Institute on Wednesday, July 14th. The institute has set itself the goal of engaging a diverse group of political thinkers over a six-month program.

During the experience, 30 participants will gain insights into themselves and others and build leadership skills that will enable them to better communicate with those who influence them and those who try to influence them, according to a press release. Participants also apply what they have learned to real-life situations where the consequences of their leadership are important.

Participants will meet virtually once a month for six months and participate in a 12-month follow-up. Each month they will work through a curriculum with national speakers and look for ways to foster more civil discourse.

“We are happy to announce the members of our opening class. These different people from across the country represent different backgrounds, beliefs and demographic profiles. We are encouraged that they recognize that we must work towards a more civil future and that they hope to help in this process with the tools they will learn from our program, ”said General Wesley K. Clark, retired ), Co-founders of Renew America.
