HARKER HEIGHTS, Texas – The Harker Heights Police Department (HHPD) warns local residents of a recent incident in which a fraudster posed as a police officer to solicit money from a company.
According to the HHPD, a company received a call on Nov. 18 with the caller ID appearing to be from the police. The caller also posed as an officer conducting an investigation.
The caller instructed the manager to put all of the store’s money in a pocket and have it driven to a secluded location, HHPD says.
The ministry advises residents that it will never collect money from any person or company.
Anyone in the Harker Heights community who has experienced this type of scam, has had a similar encounter, or has knowledge of any such activity is encouraged to call the department at 254-953-5440.
