Simply Pho House’s new location in the Hill Country Galleria has a robot that delivers food to the tables.
The restaurant, which closed its other Bee Cave location in September to move to this larger location, serves fan favorites from Vietnamese soup and noodle dishes to popular Thai and Chinese dishes. Simply Pho also has locations in Marble Falls and Belterra.
Co-owner Loann Huynh said the robot, which was made by Pudu Robotics, will be launched on a test basis and that it may expand to more robot servers if things go well.
“It’s really fun when customers choose the restaurant for a birthday party, the robot sings” Happy Birthday “from the kitchen to the table,” she says.
Huynh said she plans to add more vegan options to the menu on her new website, and is also considering a dim sum brunch on the weekends.

In addition to robotic food delivery, the Galleria welcomes two new boutiques this fall where customers can find clothes and accessories.
The New Origin Shop, which is owned jointly by the Sierra and Frederic Lewis siblings, is a lifestyle shop that sells everything from jewelry to home accessories to kitchen appliances. Many of their products are made by independent artists or local Austin-area creators and brands, Sierra Lewis said.
“Customers can come in and buy goods made by local artists and brands that are common in the Austin area as well as the United States,” she said. “We also highlight our manufacturers throughout the store. You will find a small photo with their bio that lets you know that this person made the particular item that you are buying, and we think that is very special and unique. “
New Origins started out as a pop-up shop in the Austin area about four years ago, and Lewis said she and her brother spent a lot of time setting up their new permanent space to best display their products. She said the community should keep an eye on the shop’s social media pages as they plan to celebrate their recent opening with an event soon. She said the community should keep an eye on the shop’s social media pages as they plan to celebrate their opening shortly after a soft launch in late September.

Another new shop in the Galleria, Apricot Lane, opened in mid-September and offers women’s fashion and accessories.
The store is owned by Tracy Byrne and her daughter Hunter Marrs, who moved to the area to open their new business. Byrne said the hardest part was deciding where to settle in the Austin area. She said she was attracted to Bee Cave because of its growth and because it provides hill country with easy access to a town.
“It is a family business, we are passionate about it. We handpick every item that is in the store, ”she said. “We pride ourselves on having a lot of items made in the USA, and we even have some jewelry that is made right here in Texas.”
Byrne said she has loved the community’s reception so far and will continue to run her business for a long time.
“The best part really is opening up my world,” she said. “I decided to be a home mom to my two daughters and then my husband retired and I thought you know what, now it’s my turn to get out into the world and do something again to do. And that’s what I wanted to do. “
