How boot-making startup Tecovas has grown from single store to 17 in a couple years

AUSTIN (Austin Business Journal) – Paul Hedrick, founder and CEO of Tecovas Inc., appreciates the irony.

Although the Austin-based startup was founded in 2015 as a direct-to-consumer e-commerce company, the Western apparel company that sells boots, bags, jeans and more only hired its first technology director, Tim Incoll, last May .

“We were a digital first brand without a tech team,” said Hedrick.

But under Hedrick, the company has been committed to technology from the start, which has helped Tecovas grow its business quickly, including brick and mortar retail, which now has 17 stores in 10 states. The company opened its Nashville location in March.
