It’s not typical for a publication to have the stamina to last – and thrive – for most of two centuries, but that is exactly what Long Island Press did.
What began as a Long Island Farmer in rural Jamaica, Queens, in 1821 and featured in the 20 website and email newsletter, host of top business and live events, and producer of the popular Bethpage Best of Long Island program.
“We have proudly shared the stories of job creators and visionaries who run this business, like our predecessors in the press since the publication was founded two centuries ago,” said Tim Bolger, editor-in-chief of Long Island Press.
Currently published by Schneps Media, Long Island Press reflects the lifestyle of the aspiring and always curious people and offers a view from the Queens border to Riverhead with a wide angle lens.
“We’re not going to waste your time on ‘Doom and Gloom’ news or things that are not part of our readers’ lifestyles,” said Editor Joanna Austin. “The Long Island Press is designed to inspire, encourage and put a smile on your face. It’s the ‘what to do and where to go’ publication, like in ‘Who’s doing something fabulous in Long Island today’. “
Informed and supported by the real estate, residential, health, technology and leisure / entertainment industries, Long Island Press has the added benefit of covering other Schneps Media publications in Queens (QNS.com and Queens Courier) and the Hamptons (Dan’s Paper and Behind the Hedges) – all siblings of amNY.
“It’s the good news,” Austin said. “We find out who is driving innovation and building our communities, and then introducing them to their neighbors.”
