AUSTIN, TX – Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R-Houston) announced his support for Conservative Republican Senator Dawn Buckingham, MD (R-Lakeway) as the next Texas land commissioner.
Patrick and Buckingham have been together in the Texas Senate since 2016, when Buckingham was first elected to represent the Senate District 24 population.
“Today I am honored to be supporting my good friend Senator Dawn Buckingham as Texas Land Commissioner,” said Patrick. “Dawn is a proven Conservative fighter that the people of Texas can rely on to secure our border, protect private property rights, defend the Alamo, and take care of our brave veterans.”
In a statement, Patrick recognized Senator Buckingham for her Conservative vote as a member of the Texas Senate and thanked her for her invaluable role in passing one of the strongest and most conservative legislative sessions in Texas history.
“In the Texas Senate, Dawn and I worked together to address a number of conservative priorities in this session, including protecting the unborn child when a heartbeat is detected, restoring the rights of Texans’ second amendment to constitutional carry, protection the conservative language before the censorship by big technology and the fight against liberal efforts to “expose the police,” Patrick continued. “None of these remarkable Conservative victories would have been possible without the hard work and dedication of Senator Buckingham. I am proud to offer Dawn my full support and look forward to continuing our collaboration on behalf of the people of Texas. “

Dr. Dawn Buckingham, MD is a skilled oculoplasty surgeon, avid hunter, seventh generation Texan, and lifelong Conservative Republican. In 2016, Buckingham was elected to represent District 24 in the Texas Senate, a 17-county region of West Texas and the Texas Hill Country. Dawn and her husband Ed (also a surgeon) have two children in college and live in Lakeway, Texas.
