CHICAGO, October 05, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) – Modelo, the beer brewed for those with The Fighting Spirit ™, continues its efforts to revitalize gyms with longtime partner UFC®, the world’s leading mixed- Martial arts organization and leading nonprofit, Rebuilding Together, announces the completion of renovations for The Void Martial Arts in the South Central neighborhood of Austin, Texas. Last month, Modelo and UFC launched a new initiative called Rebuilding Together to fuel the fighting spirit and ultimately empower these communities by providing renovation and repair work to select gyms in the United States.

“Modelo has always strived to stand up for those who have the fighting spirit,” said Rene Ramos, vice president of Lifestyle and Experiential, Sponsorships for Constellation Brands. “We are excited to continue working with UFC and Rebuilding Together to empower local gyms like The Void, who share Modelo’s mission and commitment to creating more unified, resilient and prosperous communities.

Providing lessons in kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, fitness kickboxing, yoga, kung fu and tai chi, for men and women, The Void Martial Arts aims to create a better society individually by practicing the virtues of martial arts disciplines. In addition to exercising, the athletes who train at The Void learn values such as self-discipline, courtesy, respect, humility, kindness, patience, self-control, and integrity that improve the Austin community as a whole.

The story goes on

“Our gym is designed to teach more than just martial arts,” says Bart Butler, owner of The Void. “We enable people to be the best version of themselves, and much of that comes from the willpower, perseverance, and courage that the martial arts teach. I am so grateful that Modelo, UFC and Rebuilding Together selected our gym to be part of their revitalization effort so that I can provide my athletes with the premium training experience they deserve. “

Inspired by the fighting spirit imparted to him by his trainer and original owner of The Void, Butler is passionate about helping and responding to real needs both to the athletes who train at his gym and members of his community in general. For example, he created free self-defense courses for women to develop confidence in their self-confidence and their ability to defend themselves in threatening situations.

Butler was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and was forced to invest in his personal finances to keep the gym open to his athletes and the community he has built. In search of new mats, drywall repairs, bathroom renovations and a complete overhaul of the HVAC system, Modelo, UFC and Rebuilding came together to make Butler’s dreams come true.

“Given our shared passion for investing in communities, working with Modelo and UFC has been a great opportunity for us to make an even greater impact nationwide,” said Caroline Blakely, President and CEO of Rebuilding Together. “This initiative enables us to breathe fresh air into the common areas, which play an important role in the health and general well-being of their residents.”

This community-based initiative coincides with the extension of the ongoing partnership between Modelo and UFC, which Modelo established for the first time in 2018 as the “Official Beer of the UFC”.

“Modelo has been a great partner for us and we are excited to see the relationship between our two companies continue to develop,” said Paul Asencio, UFC senior vice president of global partnerships. “We are excited about the work we are doing together to renew gyms and inspire athletes across the country, and look forward to seeing the next generation of fighters from these communities.”

The Gym Revitalization Program is another proud step for Modelo in its ongoing commitment to nurturing the fighting spirit in communities across the country. Model has donated funds to reduce military veterans’ educational debts, funded basic supplies, equipment and resources to protect health workers during the pandemic, and supported COVID-19 relief programs and related loans for small businesses.
