The next evening, Friday, while the rides are still circling and whirling around the exhibition grounds, the Billy Joe Boyer Memorial Car Show begins after the car parade at 6 p.m. The late Billy Joe Boyer’s lovely 1950s sedan that he renovated – and which his family and friends restored after his death – is the centerpiece of the show. The Awesome Cars Parade will start from the Red Wing Parking Lot, travel west on High Street, and will eventually park on the downtown streets around the Moore Funeral Home: North Missouri Street, Clark Street, and North Mine Street. Richards said last year 57 cars entered the show.

Aside from the car show and parade, everything else goes on at the Potosi Lions Club Fairgrounds. On Friday and Saturday traders, concessionaires and artisans will set up their stands and the air will be filled with music and the smell of fair food.
Richards said that in addition to the new location for most of the Moses Austin Festival, a new event has been added and he is excited about it.
“Saturday at 9 am we have a 4H and FFA Prospect Show where children who want to show their oxen and animals at the fair from August 4th to 7th can practice their show skills,” he said. “Jim Reed at the Farm Bureau came up with some awards and prizes, which is pretty cool.”
A cornhole tournament is scheduled for Saturday around noon, along with a beer garden operated by the Twin Eagle Lake Store.
