MT Soccer closes out preseason play Sunday with exhibition against Austin Peay

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Middle Tennessee women’s football will get one last chance before the season opener on Sunday when the Blue Raiders travel to Clarksville to face the Austin Peay Governors for their final exhibition game of the year at Morgan Bros. Soccer Field. Kickoff set for 1 p.m.

Series history

Middle Tennessee holds the all-time lead over the Govs with a 5-2 record between the two programs. In Clarksville, the Blue Raiders have a 2-1 advantage over the governors on their home field.

Last time off

The Blue Raiders won a dominant 2-0 win over the Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles on Thursday. Middle Tennessee victory was a full team effort as 25 Blue Raiders totaled minutes in the contest, including the Blue Raider goalkeeper trio. Freshman Kirstine Lykke and sophomore Mia Roberts scored the Blue Raiders goals, and the backline kept the Golden Eagles with just one shot on goal during the competition.

2021 Blue Raiders

This year’s roster consists of 30 players, including 17 returnees and 13 newcomers. Coach Aston Rhoden hosted an impressive newbie recruiting class this past spring and summer, including 10 newbies who will make an impact during the Blue Raiders 2021 campaign.

2021 autumn slate

After a season like no other, the Blue Raiders want to make a statement in the C-USA in the 2021 season. Middle Tennessee’s non-conference schedule includes two Power 5 programs with matchups at Vanderbilt and Ole Miss, who finished 18th and 23rd in the United Soccer Coaches preseason poll, along with opponents Belmont and ETSU. The Blue Raiders non-conference schedule is completed with tilts against Samford, Evansville, Detroit Mercy and Houston Baptist. The C-USA game begins on September 16 when the Blue Raiders host the FIU.

Next

Middle Tennessee begins its 2021 season on Thursday, August 19, when the Blue Raiders receive the Belmont Bruins for a matchup at 7:30 p.m. at the Dean A Hayes Track & Soccer Stadium.
