Paul Alan Stotts, 78, of Dallas, TX, died peacefully in his sleep on July 9, 2021 at his cabin in Grand Lake, CO. Born in Fort Worth, TX on June 30, 1943, Paul and Joyce (Bleck) Stotts was the son of Paul and Joyce (Bleck) Stotts.

Paul graduated from Highland Park High School in Dallas, where he excelled as a college letterman in tennis. He attended Davidson College in Davidson, NC, a school he loved very much and an experience that was expanded upon by his brothers in Phi Delta Theta. After graduating from Davidson with an AB cum laude in Economics, Phi Beta Kappa, he earned his MBA from Harvard Business School in Cambridge, MA.

He began his investment career as a portfolio associate with Stein Roe & Farnham in Chicago, IL before co-founding Hotchkiss Associates, an investment advisory firm for individuals and corporations. After returning to Dallas, he was an executive at Republic National Bank and then NationsBank for 18 years, most recently in management positions in the Global Finance Division. Paul then founded The Stotts Group, where he served as an investment advisor to individuals, families and private companies. He built trusting, personal relationships with customers and their families that made him extremely satisfied, and he took pride in providing exceptional, personal attention.

He was a devoted member of the Highland Park Presbyterian Church and served on the board of directors of the Dallas Summer Musicals for several years. He was often found playing golf at the Dallas Country Club, fly fishing in Colorado rivers, doing crossword puzzles, or hanging out with his grandchildren, who affectionately called him Grandpa Walrus. As a staunch fan of the Chicago Cubs, he knew an afternoon with the family at Wrigley Field or Sloan Park was a day well spent.

He is survived by his sister, Jane Stotts of Cincinnati, OH; his son Alan (Paige) of Salt Lake City, UT, and grandsons Hayden and Erin; his son Glenn (Sarah) from Austin, TX and the grandsons William and Alyce as well as numerous friends from near and far. He is loved and missed.

A service to celebrate Paul’s life will be announced at a later date. Monuments can be dedicated to Highland Park Presbyterian Church, Davidson College, or a charity of your choice.
