Pair of CPD Officers, Civilian Injured in Hit-and-Run Crash in South Austin – NBC Chicago

Two Chicago police officers were injured early Saturday morning when their patrol car was hit by another vehicle passing a red light in the South Austin neighborhood.

According to the authorities, the officers were driving south in Block 700 of South Cicero at around 12:10 p.m. when their vehicle was hit by a silver Lexus sedan that did not stop at a traffic light.

According to the police, the force of the impact caused the patrol car to crash into an SUV.

The driver of this SUV was taken to a nearby hospital, where she was listed in good condition. The two officers were taken to a local hospital and were both in good condition with unspecified injuries, authorities said.

The driver of the Lexus who caused the accident escaped from the scene and was not arrested.

The Chicago Police Department’s Major Accidents Division is investigating the crash.
