Coach Smith in honor of Coach Steele: It was a special night honoring one of my college coaches, I had three, but Coach Steele had an enormous impact on me and a lot of the players. I’m glad we could honor him and celebrate his career with Kitty, Cindy and Jenny, they are a special family. Surely, Coach Steele really was as sincere and caring man as I have ever met him. He has provided great guidance and support to me and to people like Dave Odom. He was someone to call. He always gave me excellent advice.
Coach Tubby Smith: We are happy about the win against a very good Guilford team. I was very impressed with Coach Palombo, he had his team ready to play. They tried a little bit of everything and got us out of almost everything we tried in the first half. Of course they have to be praised, they played an incredible schedule. I think they only played one game at home all year. Great record and they have a tremendous chance this year if they can stay healthy because they have some great players.
