Such violent scenes have become more common on airplanes in recent months as the disruptive behavior of air travelers has increased unprecedented. According to the Federal Aviation Administration, 3,615 reports of recalcitrant passengers were received by the agency between the beginning of the year and July 27. Of these, 2,666 were related to the wearing of masks. The FAA has opened 610 investigations and processed 95 cases with penalties.
