PAUL E. SMITH
FORMERLY FROM HILLSVILLE – Paul E. Smith, 83, formerly of Hillsville, died August 11th, 2021 at his home in San Antonio, TX. He was transported from Carroll County to a rehab facility in San Antonio a month after suffering a stroke. On August 5, the hospice was called and he was transferred to his home, where he later died.
The survivors include: his wife, thirty; Rita Casper-Smith; Daughters: Beth Smith and Jill (Todd) Robertson of San Antonio; Stepson David (Emily) Roy, Frankfort, KY and Stepdaughter Stephany Roy Elliott, Austin, TX. Grandsons: Carter Robertson and Casey Robertson Dominguez, TX and Elizabeth, Abigail and Annie Roy, Frankfort, KY.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister. A brother Dick and sister Kim survive.
Paul was born on August 5, 1938, in York Township, Ohio, to the late Paul “Richard” Smith and Claryce Hamilton Smith. Paul graduated from Mississinewa High School, Gas City, IN, and Indiana Business College and UVA Graduate School of Banking, Charlottesville, VA. He was withdrawn from his own business; Land Unlimited Inc. after many years in banking including: Senior Vice President of Fidelity Bank, Lynchburg, VA and Vice President, Twin City State Bank, Gas City, IN.
A memorial service will be held at Hillsville Christian Church on Saturday, October 30th at 1:00 pm; Corner of Main & Edgewood Drive. Monuments can be made at: Hillsville Christian Church Memorial Fund, where Paul was a 27-year member, deacon, Sunday school teacher, and choir member. Please wear a mask.
