NEWTON, Mass .– (BUSINESS WIRE) – Jan. September 2021–

PEOPLE Magazine and Great Place to Work® have recognized Bright Horizons (NYSE: BFAM) as one of the 2021 PEOPLE Companies that Care®. This is Bright Horizons’ first addition to this prestigious list.

The Companies that Care list highlights the leading U.S. companies that have been successful in business while demonstrating exceptional respect, care, and concern for their employees, their communities, and the environment.

Bright Horizons was recognized for two high impact programs: FirstRespondersFirst, a free childcare program launched during the pandemic for children whose families were on the forefront of the battle against the pandemic, and its Horizons Teacher Degree Program, a free study program for full-time employees in the company’s early childhood centers and preschools.

In the early months of the pandemic, Bright Horizons opened FirstRespondersFirst daycare centers in the US, providing over 7,200 days of free, quality care and education to hundreds of children in eight major cities.

Sue Routson, a pediatrician at Children’s Hospital of Chicago, said, “Without access to free FirstRespondersFirst childcare, I would have had no one to look after my children while I worked on the front lines of the hospital. Bright Horizons looked after first responder children so we could look after the Chicago children. And I’m grateful for that. “

Bright Horizons is committed to transforming lives through education by creating ways for individuals to be successful both personally and professionally. The first of its kind in early childhood education, the Horizons Teacher Degree Program, enables employees to complete an associate and bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at no charge. As of 2018, over 2,000 Bright Horizons childcare workers and employees have enrolled and more than 100 have graduated.

Lauren Floyd, who graduated with a bachelor’s degree in early childhood education from the program last year, said, “Bright Horizons presented me with an opportunity I never thought possible. I was able to learn whatever I wanted to do and change my career path. ”Upon graduation, Lauren was promoted to director of health and safety at Bright Horizons Family Center on Braker Lane in Austin, TX.

“Caring for those we serve and one another has always been at the heart of Bright Horizons, so I am incredibly honored to have our employees recognized in this important way,” said Stephen Kramer, Bright Horizons chief executive officer. “Our committed employees bring passion and commitment into their daily work. They value the role we play in transforming working families’ lives so that they can thrive both personally and professionally. “

PEOPLE magazine partnered with Great Place to Work® to create the list using the workplace analytics company’s extensive database and inside knowledge of great jobs around the world. The rankings are based on surveys of more than 5 million employees and how their workplace has changed their lives and communities. The rankings also reflect Great Place to Work’s assessment of the generosity of the benefits of each organization, as well as philanthropic and community support, with a special focus on activities that took place over the past year.

“These companies are committed to humanity in a variety of ways – from compassion for their employees to giving back to their communities to bringing diversity, justice and inclusion to the fore,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work® . “They pave the way for more socially responsible business practices and promote trustworthy jobs for everyone. Congratulations to the winners of the PEOPLE’s Companies that Care list! “
