Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society elects new President and CEO
Nathan Schema will succeed Randy Bury as President and CEO of the Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, Sioux Falls, SD.
Schema will take over this position in full with effect from January 1st. Bury’s retirement is effective December 31st.
Most recently, Schema was Vice President of Operations, overseeing operations across the company’s 22 states.
Vincentian appoints President and CEO
Dean Owrey
Dean Owrey is the new President and CEO of Vincentian, Pittsburgh, effective November 1st.
Owrey joined the company in February 2020 as Chief Financial Officer and has over 30 years of strategic leadership experience. According to the company, he drove digital transformation in finance and supported key organization-wide initiatives during the pandemic.
Prior to joining Vincentian, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He also held a number of board positions including Treasurer of the American Red Cross, Southwestern PA Chapter.
Heather Tussing
Morning Pointe Senior Living promotes Heather Tussing
Heather Tussing has been promoted to Chief Operations Officer from Morning Pointe Senior Living, Chattanooga, TN.
Prior to her promotion, Tussing was executive vice president of operations for the company. She has been the focus of various sales, operations, and compliance roles in senior living over the past 20 years.
Tussing is a certified dementia therapist and licensed administrator and preceptor of assisted living facilities.

Elizabeth Wheatley, RN, and Kristine Martel joined Benchmark Senior Living, Waltham, MA.
Kristine Martel
Wheatley will serve as Vice President of Resident Care and has over 30 years of senior living experience, including nearly 20 years with Five Star Senior Living. Most recently, she was Vice President of Health and Wellness, a role where she designed and led resident service programs and oversaw their clinical response to COVID-19. She is a member of the advisory board of the National Center for Assisted Living.
Martel will serve as Vice President Human Resources. She spent 25 years at Tufts Health Plan, where she implemented talent management and continuous change initiatives to build employee trust. She has helped create programs for diversity, equity and inclusion.

Civitas Senior Living hires Melissa Nix as its new managing director
Melissa Nix has joined Double Creek, a Civitas Senior Living Community in Round Rock, TX, as an Executive Director.
In this role, Nix will oversee all day-to-day operations and team management. During her more than 20 years in the senior housing industry, Nix has held many roles including director of assisted living, program director of independent living and sales specialist.
Cypress Cove welcomes Jennifer Benton as PR manager

Jennifer Benton has joined Cypress Cove, Fort Myers, FL as a public relations manager.
In her new role, Benton will manage media relations and other strategic communications for the company. She will also support the company’s affiliate organizations, Cypress at Home and Cypress Living.
Benton has over 20 years of marketing experience in senior housing, hospitals, ophthalmology, and telemedicine. She is an active member of the Florida Public Relations Association and President-elect of the Southwest Florida Chapter.
Former Brookdale EPP Cindy Kent, now COO at Everly Health
Cindy Kent
Cindy R. Kent, former executive vice president and president of senior living at Brookdale Senior Living, has been named chief operating officer of Austin, TX-based digital health company Everly Health.
Prior to Brookdale, Kent was President and General Manager of 3M’s Global Infection Prevention Division, where she led business growth and improved the financial and operational performance of a $ 1.7 billion division in 170 countries. Before joining 3M in 2013, she was Head of Gastroenterology and Urology Therapies at Medtronic and worked for the pharmaceutical company Eli Lilly & Co. for 15 years.
Kent is also on the board of directors of cloud-based personalized health care provider Accolade and was previously on the board of Best Buy when the retailer broke into its consumer health strategy. She is a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute and sits on the board of trustees of her alma mater, Vanderbilt University.
JSA Design is hiring three to its design and planning team

Daniel Lamb, Luke Perczak and Alexandria Conrad have been hired by JSA Design, Portsmouth, NH to serve on the design and planning team.
Lamb has more than 25 years of architecture and construction management experience. An expert in green building, he returned to JSA after working in architectural firms in Newburyport and Lowell, MA. In his new role, Lamb works on projects that range from drawing to construction.
Prior to joining JSA, Perczak interned with Utile in Boston and Nelson Edwards Co. Architects LLC in Branford, CT. Perczak helped coordinate residential projects, including schematic drafting, design development and construction.
Prior to joining JSA, Conrad did an internship at Perron Construction Co. in Manheim, PA. During her studies at Tulane University, she was a member of Tulane Women in Architecture.
