Questions To Ask When Considering A Move To Pflugerville
[ad_1]
PFLUGERVILLE, TX – If you are moving to Pflugerville and looking to buy a new home in the area, the town of Pflugerville offers an inside look at the questions to ask when making a purchase decision.
Before making a choice of where to call home, take a look at some of the things to consider.
- What is happening near my house? The urban development services can help you find out what might be possible there in the future. Sometimes green spaces are reserved for a future park or hiking trail, or zoning enables apartments or an office complex. While the city does not choose which individual businesses come to town, the city creates zones to determine what types of businesses are approved for which style of building. Ask the planning department so you know what can come in the future. Planning@pflugervilletx.gov or 512.990.6300.
- Is my home on the city limits? A postal address in Pflugerville does not necessarily mean that you are within the city limits. For example, Villages of Hidden Lakes, Commons of Rowe Lane, and Sorento all have postal addresses in Pflugerville but are not within the Pflugerville city limits. Similarly, on the west side of town, Sarah’s Creek has a postal address in Pflugerville but is within the city of Austin jurisdiction. If you are not within the city limits, you can still pay Pflugerville Independent School District taxes and county taxes, but will not receive resident rates for services or benefits to residents. The Pflugerville Police Department does not serve outside the city limits. The Travis County Sheriff’s Department serves the outer lying areas of Pflugerville. It is also important to know if your home is in a city administrative district (MUD), as taxes on homes in a MUD are different. The GIS department can help you determine if you are on the city limits.
- Who is the water supplier, water supplier? Depending on where your home is, the water pipes may not always follow the lines of the city limits. There are three water companies serving Pflugerville – the City, Manville, and the SouthWest Water Company. Knowing who to call in the event of a water outage is important, and when you hear about a water boiling message, you’ll know who is looking after your area.
- What about taxes? Texas funds its schools through local property taxes and will make up the bulk of your local taxes. Texas has no state income tax.
- How do I stay connected and informed about what’s happening in the community? Whether or not your home falls within the city limits, we hope you connect with the city of Pflugerville. The city is on Facebook, Twitter, Nixle text alerts, the Code Red regional notification system, YouTube, and sends a weekly e-newsletter to subscribers.
