Bottas: Red Bull was “nothing amazing” on Friday
Bottas qualified fourth for the United States Grand Prix but will start ninth due to a penalty. He said Red Bull had clearly found more improvements than Mercedes during the race weekend.
“They looked okay yesterday, but nothing special. I think they found a little more than we did overnight, ”he said. “For me the car felt a lot better than yesterday, but overall Red Bull has taken a bigger step and that definitely has the upper hand today.”
Bottas, however, still hopes for Mercedes’ chances in the race. “I still think their racing pace was pretty much the same,” he said.
The battle between McLaren and Ferrari continues until the end of the season – Brown
Zak Brown believes the battle between McLaren and Ferrari for third place in the constructors’ championship will continue for the last six races. “I think it’s going to be a fight to the end with Ferrari, so every race really counts at this point; We’ve had some really strong races lately and then some tracks like in Turkey that we had problems on. “
The McLaren drivers qualified behind the two Ferraris in sixth and seventh. Although Bottas’ penalty means they will all move forward, Ferrari has the upper hand after US Grand Prix qualifying.
“I don’t think we’re going to feel comfortable in the six remaining races of the year,” said Brown. “I think we’ll have some good races, not so good races.”
Gasly: Netflix means being recognized on the street
Pierre Gasly said he was impressed with the size of the crowd at this year’s COTA, which could turn out to be the most-attended F1 event of all time.
“I have to say it’s pretty impressive,” Gasly mused. “Even [on] Mine around the lap as I parked in the pit lane I could hear the crowd screaming and it’s really fun. I like the way Americans are really entertained and really like every sport and event. And I have to say, it makes it even more enjoyable for us, and it’s great to see.
He said he was also recognized “a lot more”, citing Drive To Survive as the way people identified him. “I think Netflix has had an impact here compared to the past two to three years.
“The streets, the restaurants, even in the city – it’s America, it’s pretty far from home.”

# Indy500 most likely won’t be the biggest sporting event since the pandemic by tomorrow. Well, unless we actually see the manifesto and the true number. Otherwise it looks like these 150,000 (all viewers plus industry) will be beaten at COTA.

I love COTA but route restrictions are a real downside to this place. Needs a lot more gravel and a lot less drainage.
