Reno-Tahoe International Airport gave American Airlines a 10-gallon hat on Thursday as the airline celebrated its first daily non-stop flight to Austin, Texas.
The flight took off at 6 a.m. for the Texas Capitol, known for its tech scene, music, food, and fun. Perfect for business or leisure travelers, the new American flight connects Texans with Reno-Tahoe’s growing technology sector and famous outdoor fun.
“We are committed to connecting Reno-Tahoe International Airport with Austin and to complement our existing year-round service from Reno to Dallas-Ft. Worth, Los Angeles and Phoenix, ”said Brian Znotins, American Airlines vice president of network planning. “As the only airline to offer nonstop flights between Reno and Austin, American Northern Nevada is making it easier than ever to get back to business, enjoy all that Austin and central Texas has to offer, or get back with family and friends to get in touch. ”
Austin marks the second long-haul flight American announced this summer from Reno-Tahoe. Seasonal, daily non-stop service to Charlotte, NC began on June 3rd at RNO.
“The true spirit of partnership in our area is helping to attract more air connections,” said Shaun Carey, chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Airport Authority. “The Reno-Sparks Chamber of Commerce, the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada, the Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors Authority, and the hotels and casinos are working together to support new flight services and make flights successful.”
The new Austin flight on a 76-seat Embraer 175 departs RNO at 6:00 am and lands in Austin at 11:22 am. It leaves Austin at 7:55 PM and lands at RNO at 9:32 PM
When flying RNO, remember that safety is our top priority. Face covers are required in the terminal and in flight by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Transportation Security Administration.
