AUSTIN, TX – Tuesday, State Representative Steve Toth (R-The Woodlands) filed HB 270 in response to Democratic lawmakers to leave the state. HB 270 would withhold taxpayers for a year to lawmakers preventing a quorum by skipping work in the Capitol.
“If you’re not working,” said Rep. Toth, “you don’t deserve to be paid. It’s that simple. When the Democrats broke the quorum, they stopped everything. The Democrats are instead giving up protecting their constituents from criminals who get out of jail because of personal ties so that they can exploit the most vulnerable in society. You quit not only because of the bail reform, but also because of retired teachers. We were working on giving retired teachers a 13th check. The Democrats are giving up on ensuring border security and protecting Texans from cartels. They stop by sending billions of dollars back to taxpayers as property tax relief. Democrats also drop out because of the integrity of the election, and dropouts, like scammers, never succeed. ‘
“Each elected officer takes an oath,” Toth continued, “I kept mine and came to work this morning. The Democrats broke their oath, abandoned their constituencies and left their taxpayer-funded jobs to vacation in DC and Disney World. ‘
Steve Toth is a small business owner representing South Montgomery County in the Texas House of Representatives. MP Toth is a tried and tested tax conservative who is active in the powerful appropriations committee. He has worked on CNN, Fox News, Fox Business News, OAN and KTRH.
