SOHO HOUSE

The members-only social club, known for drawing stars to its zippy spots in LA, London, and New York, chose Austin as its first Texas outpost. Located between downtown and South Austin, the club opened in June and features amenities like 46 hotel rooms, a rooftop pool (above), a screening room, and a restaurant. “It was an obvious city to us – so many of our members moved there from the west or east coast,” explains Nick Jones, founder of Soho House. “Not only is it a great city in itself, but it has so much culture too [and] great people. ”1101 South Congress Ave., sohohouse.com

LUTIE’S

Interior designer Ken Fulk, whose client Pharrell Williams is, designed the glamorous space for Lutie’s, the new garden restaurant in the Commodore Perry Estate of the Auberge Resorts. The two chefs Bradley Nicholson and Susana Querejazu (right) have put together a seasonal menu that artfully combines seafood and vegetarian dishes with classic dishes such as Texas beef with pulp and sweet potatoes. 4100 Red River St .; luties.com

THE BACH & THE CAVE

The Creek & the Cave, a popular New York comedy club that included Donald Glover and Sara Benincasa, had to close in 2020 amid the pandemic. But when Austin producer Marty Clarke heard that club owner Rebecca Trent had shut down, he invited her to Austin to check out the town’s comedy scene. The two teamed up to reopen The Creek & the Cave in Austin, where the new location offers indoor and outdoor stages. 611 East 7. St .; creekandcave.com

A HIGHER LEVEL

Located across from the historic Paramount Theater in the city center, the newly opened Bar and Restaurant Higher Ground offers dishes inspired by chef Chris Galluccio’s Italian roots (including the crispy porchetta sandwich with rocket, peach mustarda and pesto). The two-story space is religiously themed, with cocktails inspired by the Seven Deadly Sins and decor that includes benches from a disused Texas church, a private altar from a Victorian house in Louisiana, stained-glass windows, and a 19th-century organ. 720 Kongressstrasse; highgroundatx.com
